How Does Our Garden Grow?

Eric has always wanted a garden. Everywhere we've lived, we've had things in pots. Even in NY, we grew paperwhites in the bathroom! And Eric has always said that when we have our own house, we'll plant one. So here we are, our first attempt at a garden.

We began planting the second week of Sept, and have added to the garden as the weather has cooled off. We did heirloom tomatoes from starters, as it was too late in our season for seeds. And they've done very well. We've already had two blooms on one of them. We've got wax bean in, I love wax beans. Only about half came up, maybe better luck next year on those. Because Eric likes them, we planted radishes. We've got radishes coming out our EARS! As Grandpa J said: "The seed packet costs $0.99, but you only use $0.20 worth of seeds" Very true, and now our family and friends will be enjoying the 20+ radishes we've got. We've also got carrots, peas, lettuce, and broccoli. We know that our garden is a bit small, but it's a good begining. Next year we will expand it to just over double in size, and include sugar pumpkins!

Wahoo!! What a great beginning for your little garden. I forgot that you guys went private so I'm catching up on a lot. Keep us posted on your little garden.
Our ward has been challenged to go to the temple once a week for an entire month. It's been two weeks now and I've issued out our 512 temple names from our ward to be done so far. I thought you and Eric might be interested in hearing that since you've guys have helped so many people with their family history.
Remind me again what your email address is so I can send you a personal invite to our San Tan Diva blog. It sounds like a ward blog but its not really. I'm sure you have wonderful things to contribute. You can email me at lizwhitehorn@cox.net

Yours starts as ours ends. Last night we had a frost and tonight we will have the first freeze of the season--down to 28 or so. I picked all the remaining tomatoes and the last peppers yesterday afternoon. Then today after Church I peddled the ripe ones around to the 4 closest neighbors. I have no freezer space left, and Ed doesn't like fried green tomatoes, so guess what I will be eating the rest of this week!! (He is in Hawaii and will be home Friday.)

Your garden is an inspiration! We have a little plot all set aside, but so far all I've grown in my backyard are lemons & oranges. I gotta try growing radishes!!

I wouldn't call your garden "small," I'm super impressed with it. How cute are the pictures of the boys helping?! I love it.
