Davin's preschool class went to the dairy earlier this month. After the tour, but before the ice cream, they let the kids brush and feed the goats, feed a carrot to the horse, pet the bunnies, and hold a chicken. Davin and Eme fell in love with Peanut the bunny and are now desperate for a bunny as a pet. Eme nearly dropped the chicken, and Davin, who would have prefered to just play with the bunny instead of holding the chicken, did just fine on his turn. I must say, I was rather surprised at how soft those chickens were, very much like a kitten. But I don't want one for a pet, four kids are enough for me.

I am catching up on blogs this morning--and I have to thank you for the pictures of the chicken. My red Henny Penny was a wonderful pet. Her little bantam pajama feathers made her so much cuter than my grandma's white hens. And she laid one little egg every day, but it took most of the morning to find it because she had several "favorite" nesting places on the farm.
