I will be forever grateful to my sil Jen for the idea of giving a family game on Christmas Eve. It has made the day go by so much smoother with our young family. This year, however, we did a craft: perler beads. Those little plastic beads saved us from certain doom this summer, they kept the kids busy for hours.
So we added glow in the dark beads to our stash, along with some fun animal shape peg boards. The kids loved them and went straight to work. Once again, those beads saved us from certain bordom and fights.
Eric's mom began a talent show a few years ago for our after dinner entertainment. And as the kids have gotten older, the talent shows are, um, more talent filled? Aidan played "Jingle Bells" on the flute- he taught himself just for the talent show. Eme danced along while Aidan played (Eric tried to teach her an interpretive dance entitled "Christmas tree", but she declined with giggles).
Davin, who is really into Egypt right now, wrote "Merry Christmas" in heiroglyphics.
Other cousins performed, some were impromptu.
Others well rehersed.
Back at home just before bed for our pj's, cookies, and family prayer.
