Ordinarily

Ordinarily my week is pretty plain and simple.  I'm up by 6:30, pilates, kids up by 7, breakfast, lunches, the boys off to school, then Eric off to work.  On MWF Eme goes to preschool, and on MW I watch my friend's baby during preschool.  Tuesday and Thursday are my errand running days, and errands around here also include the park, the zoo, and the dinosaur museum.  The girls and I have playtime together after lunch, and then they have quiet time together (Maddie is phasing out of naps, usually 2 a week).  The boys get home from school by 3:15, and we have snacks, 2 shows, homework, flute practice, outside playtime, and an occasional fight.  Eric gets home from work by 6:30 and we eat dinner, get into pj's by 7:30 (me too), and then it's bedtimes at 8 and 8:30.

But not this past week.  I got a cortizone shot in my foot on Monday (OUCH!!), watched my 3 1/2 yo nephew on Tues and Wed (he came with us to feed the ducks and dig for dinosaurs), delt with low-grade fevers for 2 kids-again, ran Eric to and from the hospital yesterday and the girls to and from a friend's house, and am now playing nurse to Eric while he recovers from some orthroscopic knee surgery yesterday.  He's doing much better than the last time he did this (same knee too), but it's still rough being the only one going upstairs to break up a lego fight, or put Maddie back in bed for the 5th or 6th time (okay, it was really only 4 times, but she was naked on one of them).

Ordinarily our Saturdays are filled with chores: cleaning and yard work and woodworking in the garage.  But I'm thinking that tomorrow we need to do something different.  I need to get out of the house, and since the weather will be lovely (low 70's), I'm thinking we'll leave Eric home to watch some movies, and the kids and I will head to the zoo.  Just what we need.

I'm looking forward to it.
