The scouts in our ward hold an auction and dinner to help raise funds for camp each year. They ask for help with donations from the members and scouts. Since we knew we'd be paying for Aidan (and he's been saving up) for camp, I tried to figure out what we could donate to the auction.
Then I came up with these, a baby quilt and two doll quilts-all made out of scrap fabric from my stash (I did have to buy white thread and batting, so I spent about $5-10). But they helped raise some money for camp, and let me practice some of my skills, so I was a happy camper.
Aidan also had to run one of the activity booths at the dinner/auction-we were assigned the panning for gold booth. I came up with lemon Jolly Ranchers buried in pine bedding (animal bedding) and the kids had to use aluminum pie pans to scoop them out. Super popular-not bad for less than $20!
All in all the auction raised enough to cover half of every scout's camp fees-and since this was for all three units (scouts, varsity, and venture), this was none too shabby-our ward rocks in it's generosity :)
