On Friday the 9th, the last day of school before spring break, Aidan got the stomache flu. Friday was a very long day. Still not feeling good on Saturday, he missed a birthday party and his last flag football game (and the pizza party that followed). I spent most of Monday cleaning and running errands (so much easier to do with just 2 kids), and then Aidan had a slight relapse at bedtime. Eric got home from work around 7:30 (he usually gets home at about 6:15 during session).
Tuesday, I figured that we needed to do something fun to make up for a rather poor start to spring break. So we headed to the zoo; along with 4 seperate school groups and at least 3 small groups and 4 school districts on spring break. It was hot (95 degrees!!), it was crowded, it was my least "fun" zoo trip EVER. On the way home Davin and Eme fell asleep-it would prove to be Eme's only nap of the day (40 minutes). Very tired and grumpy kids for the rest of the afternoon. I let the kids eat cheerios for dinner, I am a hero. Eric gets home at 7 pm, he just missed bath time.
Wednesday we recover from 3 hours at the zoo. Eme sleeps for 1 hour (she usually gets 3), and is cutting a molar and a canine; oh, joy! Eric gets home after 7, again. I am so tired of spring break.
Thursday, we head back to the zoo(we have a membership), a little earlier this time. There is MASSIVE traffic at the offramp, construction delays. It takes 15-20 minutes to get off the freeway-traffic is down to one lane for a mile or so, and it's the tail end of rush hour. We are in the zoo before 10 am, run into some friend of Aidan, and head over to stingray bay. We spent about 2 hours at the zoo, a great trip, even if there are another 4 school groups there and it is 95 AGAIN. We ate lunch at Nana and Papa's house-we were going to go swimming, but we were just too tired. We stay for dinner, and then went home. We got home at 7:45, and Eric still wasn't home yet. He made it home just after bath time again. (They love baths, my week would have been easier if I had just let them spend the day in the tubs.)
Friday, we do nothing. Aidan complains about being bored, all day long. We shatter old record temps, hitting 100 (we should be at 75). Eric gets home at 5:45. He worked a full extra day this week, just waiting in case he was needed during the budget negotiations, they never got to his agencies. Maybe next week.
(It even took me a week to upload my pictures, I had a lot of recovering to do.)

As a former teacher, I LOVED spring break!!
As a mom, I PRAYED for it to end and for summer to NEVER come!
