Tuesday we had Maddie's 7 week heart check up. They have you come back for a follow-up at 6-8 weeks, because if problems are to develop, they will have developed by then. Aside from having to drag all of our children into Phoenix for the appointment, it went well. Firstly, Aidan, Davin, and Eme behaved about as well as you could expect them to for being stuck in a small room for an hour and a half, even with some treats and toys. And secondly, and more importantly, it appears that Maddie's VSD (the lower chamber's hole) has closed up. Neither the NP or the doctor could hear it anymore. We will have to go back again for them to listen and then verify with an ultrasound that it has indeed closed off, but we'll take the good news for now. We're not quite done yet, there is her ASD (upper chamber hole) to keep an eye on. Since they can't actually hear that one as a rule, until the heart (and valves) are larger, we have to go back every few months for them to check her progression. We won't officially be done for close to a year, but Maddie is making great progress. We are grateful for your thoughts and prayers, and for the blessings of the priesthood in our lives.
