It's Great to be 8!!

Aidan's birthday was quite the event for us. It turned into an all day celebration of Aidan. We began the day with a birthday breakfast (donuts and oj) and the first gift. The first gift this year was from Davin and Eme (with help from mom and dad), "they" gave Aidan two new Star Wars guys: Obi Wan and an ARC trooper (Davin had lost Aidan's other Obi Wan's head two days after he got it, so it was only right that he replace it.) We went back to the AZ Science Center to see Grossology, both Human and Animal. They had a big burping man (you pump "soda" into him to make him burp), a giant sneezing nose, a huge cut-a-way cow (you could follow the digestive process from cud to poo), the (I am NOT making this one up) Dookie Detective, and other gross, weird, and fun stuff. They loved it. From there we went to Eric's work (10 minutes away), and he took us on a tour through the State Capital museum-our capital is the original, they've turned much of it into a museum, the present day offices are located in a 9-story building behind the original. We only did a portion of the museum, the little kids were getting tired. We saw the USS Arizona room, it was full of artifacts from the ship, including a portion of the ship's hull! (For those who don't recall, the USS Arizona was one of the ships lost in Pearl Harbor) We saw the old Sec of State's office, the old Gov's office, and the old senate floor. The kids loved the stuffed jaguar and the full sized condor replica in the Dept of Land's room. We'll have to go back again, when the museum is our only destination.

Eric came home with us, he took a half day, it was so nice to have him home. Homemade pizza for dinner, and pizza for dessert-one with "cheese" and one with "everything." (Pepperoni=fruit roll up, sausage=chocolate peanuts, bell peppers=gummi worms, onions=gummi worms, crushed red peppers=sprinkles, sauce=strawberry jam, cheese=frosting) Aidan had a blast decorating his pizza cake, and he loved showing it off to everyone.

It wouldn't be a birthday without Legos.

It was a great day, and there is one thing that I hadn't realized about turning 8. I knew that 8 meant his baptism, and Faith in God, but I hadn't realized that 8 also means CUB SCOUTS! I thought it was 9. He went to his first den meeting yesterday, and loved it. Nana and Papa got him his scout stuff as part of his birthday gifts. I am so excited for him, the goal is to get his Bobcat done by his baptism (3 weeks away), so he can get going on his Wolf.

Aidan with all of his loot. (Yes, that is a skateboard in the back, courtesy of his aunts and uncle :)

(We don't have any picture of blowing out the candles on our cameras, Eric wanted to take video, and I was manning the candles, plates and forks, we'll have to get those pics from everyone else.)
