(Yes, this is a bit overdue, but life got really crazy right after this)
Here is a quick rundown and slideshow of our week:
- Monday: Relaxed at home. No fights. A good day.
- Tuesday: I took the kids over to the library and riparian preserve for some books and a nature walk. This ended up being quite the eye-opening experience for my children. You see, we go to the bookstore (or I go alone), on average, once a month, and to the library, maybe 4 times a year. So the kids are constantly getting new books. And we prefer to frequent the library shelves of Nana and Papa's house (way less crowded than the actual library); after 5 kids, they have their own library (I use it too). So when Davin told me (quite upset too) that his new book had a ripped page in it, I told him that it would be just fine, we'd let them know when we returned our books that his book was ripped before we checked it out. He was so upset at the reality that he couldn't keep his book, it didn't matter to him that he could get another book next time, he wanted his book. Suffice it to say, he's getting that book for easter, and the girl's are getting their books too.
- Wednesday: WHAT?! We're only half-way through? HOW am I going to survive the summer.
- Thursday: We got out of the house for a lovely day at the zoo, and picked up a new membership. We met up with Ashlee, and the two kids she works with, and had a great two hour tour of one loop. If you haven't been to the zoo, you really can't do it all in one day with children, the place is HUGE. We usually pick just one loop to do and then call it a day.
- Friday: Truely, I've blocked it from my memory.
- Saturday: Yard work, cleaning, pinewood derby prep (more on that later). You know, the usual Saturday activities. And, of course, the QUILT SHOW.
- Sunday: We went over to Eric's parent's house for his dad's birthday. It's nice to not have to cook every once in a while. And THANK GOODNESS the week is over, and school starts tomorrow!
