Spring Break, 2010 edition

My goal was to pack in as much fun as I could to wear the kids out, without wearing me out too much in the process. It worked pretty well, there were only a minimal number of skirmishes, and everyone was pretty well content with our activities. Although, by Thursday morning, there was a request to just stay home, that didn't happen though, we had some pressing engagements. But we did stay home on Friday.

So here's a rundown of our week:
Monday: met up with some friends at the best park. It's 15 minutes away, but so worth the drive.
Tuesday: we headed to the zoo bright and early. We did stingray bay first, and were able to spend 30 minutes in there. Everyone got to touch the stingrays, and thanks to Maddie, we also all got splashed by the stingrays, a lot.
Wednesday: we walked/rode to the park next to the school for a picnic lunch with some friends.
Thursday: Eric took the day off, we shipped the kids off to a friend's house, and we headed to the funeral of a really good man whose actions have forever changed our lives, although we'd never met him before. (see below)
Friday: we spent at home. Although, we did have some friends over for a while (a trade off for the funeral babysitting).

About Harry Gould: he and his good wife (whom we know well) gave us an apartment to live in, free of rent, for as long as we needed it. That was the deciding factor in our moving to AZ. Because of that apartment, we were in a ward where Eric heard about a small job opening w/Wells Fargo, which he got a week before Davin was born. We were able to have our credit card paid off w/in six months of Eric starting at Wells Fargo, since we didn't have to pay rent. Then a few months later, he was introduced by someone in that ward to someone who knew of openings at the JLBC. He's been there for 6 years this June. Once we were stable, financially, enough, we rented the small house in Gilbert for 3 years, and then 2 years ago we bought our first home. So, you see, everything we have right now, I can trace back to this family's generousity. They were doing these things to repay Eric's dad for his service and love for that family, but it truely saved us, and for that we will always be grateful.
