The Birthday Girl Turns 5!

Eme requested scrambled eggs, bacon, and orange rolls for her birthday breakfast: this girl knows how to EAT!  While the kids were waiting for breakfast, the boys gave Eme their gift: a Strawberry Shortcake figure: Raspberry Torte (she's been wanting that one).

Mmm, birthday breakfast!
Since Eme's birthday fell on a Sunday, we decided to give her a new holiday dress (Maddie is wearing Eme's from 2 years ago).  She loved it, especially since we made her a necklace and flower barrette to match.
before church, looking fabulous
After church, it was time for more gifts: Pretty Pretty Princess (I always wanted that game but never got it), Tinkerbell and Silvermist, and the new Tinkerbell movie (her first fairy movie).  It made for a pretty quiet afternoon, she and Maddie watched the movie and played dress-up (Davin did too).

Eme told me she wanted a princess cake, and I've always wanted to do a doll cake, so we made a princess doll cake.  I love how she turned out.  I'll be making another one again, so easy!
Eme requested that she wear pink w/ pearls.  Done and done.
Maddie got really excited for Eme's gifts too!  Thankfully, Nana got the 5 pack of dress up shoes, no fighting here.
Nana thinks she lost her mind the week before Eme's birthday, and here's the proof.  Last year, she had the great idea of making Eme some dress up clothes.  We spent a morning at JoAnn's picking out patterns and fabric (she even bought the patterns to make matching doll dresses).  But then September got in the way (like it always does), and they just didn't happen.  This year, Nana (while watching other grandkids) decided to cut out some fabric, and then she compelled herself to finish one of the dresses.  Fabulous job Nana!
Eme got a Cinderella doll to match her dress!
Maddie claimed the second dress-up dress as her own.  Who's going to argue with a 2 1/2 year old?

mmm, cake.  Chocolate w/ chocolate filling.

our two princesses! love them.
