Aidan's Birthday-Farewell Primary!!!

(Oh, and July's 12 in 12, 3 days late)
Aidan turning 12 on a Saturday not only meant that Grandma and Grandpa Seguine were out for the weekend for his ordination, but it also meant that I had time to make what he wanted for his breakfast-farmer's breakfast, orange rolls, and juice.

After a lovely breakfast, a traditional first gift of the day.  This year it was indeed Legos, not like the unfortunate incident 2 years ago when all he got was a watch and a new shirt.
Ah, the long awaited Shilob Attacks
Aidan really wanted to go the Science Center for his birthday, and with membership passes, it was an easy thing to agree to.  So many times mom and dad are out on these whirl-wind trips and we never get a chance to take them places.  It was great fun to be able to spend the day playing with them.

Aidan's always loved the rock wall, and Maddie is part monkey
Math Alive just opened that day, and since we were there early, we had few people to contend with (especially for a Saturday!) It was great to be the first to play with the new exhibit.

and of course, the water table

After the Science Center we headed home for some lunch, and mom and I needed to run to BN to pick up birthday books for Aidan.  Unfortunately we also got caught in some serious TORRENTIAL rain, one of the really bad ones.  Oh well, I was soaked, but the books were dry.

Aidan requested chocolate cake with a chocolate glaze.  And since he had read Lord of the Rings a month or so ago, he requested the castle cake (I threw in the dragon cookies for Nazguls for good measure).  Unfortunatly, there was a bit of an "issue" getting the cake out of the pan.  Which is sad, because I've never had a MAJOR problem before, maybe a small part sticking, but never an ENTIRE wall.  But keeping with the Lord of the Rings theme, we decided it was Helm's Deep (after the battle).

I'm not sure which Aidan was happier about getting: the Mines of Moria Lego set, his own copy of Lord of the Rings, new clothes, or the candy his siblings picked out for him.
Aidan's big gift from us was his own RC helicopter, just like Eric's but in red/white/blue.  Now all three of the boys have helicopters and they can all play nicely together.
All three, ready for flight
No Grandpa trip would be complete without a story, or two, or three...

Aside from Aidan's birthday, his ordination was also quite wonderful.  And I can't quite believe that my kid is really 12, that he now holds the priesthood, and that he'll be passing the sacrament in a week.  (Just don't remind me that he'll be in Jr High in 2 1/2 weeks, I'm not ready for that yet.)
