A little redecorating

This was a working weekend for us, but a lot was accomplished. We spent most of Saturday morning doing major cleaning, the kind that involves wiping down the baseboards. Eric patched chipped plaster on the rounded corners throughout the house before going out into the garage to work on a wooden storage bench. Eric did help with some of the dusting too, he came up with a new way to dust the top of the armoir, and then he rececorated a little. What do you think?

I made it through spring break

On Friday the 9th, the last day of school before spring break, Aidan got the stomache flu. Friday was a very long day. Still not feeling good on Saturday, he missed a birthday party and his last flag football game (and the pizza party that followed). I spent most of Monday cleaning and running errands (so much easier to do with just 2 kids), and then Aidan had a slight relapse at bedtime. Eric got home from work around 7:30 (he usually gets home at about 6:15 during session).

Tuesday, I figured that we needed to do something fun to make up for a rather poor start to spring break. So we headed to the zoo; along with 4 seperate school groups and at least 3 small groups and 4 school districts on spring break. It was hot (95 degrees!!), it was crowded, it was my least "fun" zoo trip EVER. On the way home Davin and Eme fell asleep-it would prove to be Eme's only nap of the day (40 minutes). Very tired and grumpy kids for the rest of the afternoon. I let the kids eat cheerios for dinner, I am a hero. Eric gets home at 7 pm, he just missed bath time.

Wednesday we recover from 3 hours at the zoo. Eme sleeps for 1 hour (she usually gets 3), and is cutting a molar and a canine; oh, joy! Eric gets home after 7, again. I am so tired of spring break.

Thursday, we head back to the zoo(we have a membership), a little earlier this time. There is MASSIVE traffic at the offramp, construction delays. It takes 15-20 minutes to get off the freeway-traffic is down to one lane for a mile or so, and it's the tail end of rush hour. We are in the zoo before 10 am, run into some friend of Aidan, and head over to stingray bay. We spent about 2 hours at the zoo, a great trip, even if there are another 4 school groups there and it is 95 AGAIN. We ate lunch at Nana and Papa's house-we were going to go swimming, but we were just too tired. We stay for dinner, and then went home. We got home at 7:45, and Eric still wasn't home yet. He made it home just after bath time again. (They love baths, my week would have been easier if I had just let them spend the day in the tubs.)

Friday, we do nothing. Aidan complains about being bored, all day long. We shatter old record temps, hitting 100 (we should be at 75). Eric gets home at 5:45. He worked a full extra day this week, just waiting in case he was needed during the budget negotiations, they never got to his agencies. Maybe next week.

(It even took me a week to upload my pictures, I had a lot of recovering to do.)

Hey, what happened to my shows?!

I will vent for a moment, I think that Jen would understand. In Arizona (along with Hawaii and Indiana) we do not continue the archaic practice of Daylight Savings Time. And since we don't, I can no longer remember when the rest of you "spring forward"; "fall back" is easy, it correlates with general conference. Now I must remember that Julie is now an hour ahead of me, and that the rest of you are 3 hours ahead. This year we have encountered a new problem: cable TV. This is our first time with cable in AZ, it leaks in for free with our cable internet; as Eric is a fiscal analyst, paying for trivial things like cable just doesn't make sense. Imagine my frustration this morning when we went to turn on Disney and the wrong shows were on. Since it affects all of cable, I now must re-learn when everything is on. Oh well.

I Finished it (almost)

This quilt has been a long time in the making. I found the pattern (originally for a wall quilt) close to three years ago. I picked out the fabric and began sewing almost a year ago. I have revised the pattern more than three times. And I was begining to wonder if I would ever finish this quilt. I finally just sat down and ignored all else for four days until it was finished (my carpet is in serious need of the vacuum). But I think that it was worth it. What do you think? I still need to sandwich it, quilt it (by machine), bind it, and name it (about 1-2 weeks worth of work) before it will go on Davin's bed.

We Love Grandpa Seguine

Dad had a CMA conference in Phoenix last week; he took the earliest flight out to be able to spend the day with us. Davin warmed up to him right away, but it took Eme until after dinner before she was okay with him. Although, it might not have taken so long had she discovered his beard sooner. She had fun pulling him around like a billy-goat. Aidan was thrilled to have grandpa pick him up from school, and when straight to work writting him a book. (Dad kept it out on the table during his meetings the next day).

My football star!

Okay, he's not quite ready for the NFL yet, but Aidan is having fun playing flag football-this is his first time season playing. Here are some pictures from his game last week (Aidan is wearing a yellow shirt and blue shorts with the red stripe)

Hey, where's the Offensive Line?!

Welcome to the World Baby Girl!

Here are some pictures I took last week while taking care of Julie. Here are some funny bits of information: the hospital forgot to remove the cord clamp, we had to do that on Monday; after I corrected Forester on Eme's name (he called her Amy), he went around telling everyone what her name was; Forester became Eme's surrogate big brother for the week, giving her hugs at every opportunity; Aspen's head is about the size of a grapefruit.
