My 9th Anniversary

I know, I know, my anniversary was close to three weeks ago now, and I am just writing about it. I was waiting to be able to post a picture of my anniversary gift, Eric finished the first one this weekend (there are 2). He would have had them both done for our anniversary, if I had decided on them earlier (and then he was out of town the weekend following, helping his brother move). The bookshelves are made of pine, stained in ebony, and finished with a semi-gloss poly.

I thought that I'd share 9 of our events over the past 9 years. Enjoy.

  • Moved 5 times, 4 of them cross-country.

  • Have owned 6 cars, we only miss 2 (the Jeep and the Xterra).

  • 3 great kids, with #4 on the way.

  • Eric has had 8 jobs (including 2 part time, 2 TA possitions)

  • That I will NEVER make anything worse than a dinner of potato pearl garlic mashed potatoes with instant gravy, and that I can never face cheeseburger bake again.

  • After 7 years I discoved that Eric had a hidden woodworking talent (I REALLY didn't believe him, I was sure that he would either: loose a finger, or that whatever he made would look like a Homer Simpson spice rack).

  • We have never owned a pet, nor do we intend to.

  • My favorite Christmas gift was from our really poor days, we only had $25 each: a simple pair of pearl dangle earrings.

  • That I love my husband so much more that I did 9 years ago, and I know that I will love him even more with each passing year.

I won't make cheeseburger bake again either. I made it when we were newly married, spent the entire night in the bathroom throwing up and my grandma was sure I was pregnant.

Those were good memories Lynn.

I love the Homer Simpson spice rack image--sooo evocative. Beautiful work on the bookshelves. Isn't it great that after 9 years he can still surprise with with facets of himself? (closet woodworker)

I love you and I love him and I'm so happy for you and all the adventures past and future.

The shelves are beautiful! And I have seen the stunning Adirondack chairs he made. I think 9 years ago was the most amazing summer of my life--3 temple weddings! And so many wonderful experiences for us as parents. Thank you.

Happy Anniversary! It's true when they say "someday you will look back at this and smile" - the good, the bad and the difficult. As long as you go through them together, it always seems to be ok.
