Revenge of the peaches

This is what I get for begrudging the peaches. Why did I have to complain about the tedious, hard work of making 4 batches of freezer jam, and 3 batches of sliced-frozen peaches. Why couldn't I have been thrilled to have all of my Christmas goody gifts for friends and neighbors all taken care of? Why indeed. The peaches are having their revenge on me now, and it isn't pleasant. During the first batch of jam, whilst peeling a peach, I got juice in my eye. It stung a little, and my eye was irritated the remainder of the evening. The next day (Friday), my eye was dry and irritated still, I thought it would be fine as the day went on. Saturday, I tried changing my contacts (I was a week or two over, but not a big deal), still no help. By the evening, my eye was starting to hurt, and was a little puffy. This morning I woke up to a VERY swollen, painful eye. I have an infected tear duct. It isn't weeping, or tearing, it is plugged up good and painfully. Now I get to take a full course of antibiotics to clear this all up. (a BIG thank you to Eric's dad for the script, it saved me the time, and embarrasement of going to my doctor tomorrow). Sadly, I cannot fault the peaches. The jam is just too good to stay mad at. Oh, well. (I think that I get my luck from mom :)

I am so sorry!! This is a good day to rest and do nothing extra. And I know the peaches will be sooo good later on. (I am glad to pass anything on to you, even "luck".) And you have the best father-in-law--I know!

sorry. Maybe you can use a bag of sliced peaches as an ice pack? They can soothe as well as cause pain.
