Busy, Busy, Busy

Sometimes there's a break in my blogging because there just isn't anything going on, but that hasn't been the case these past few weeks. Life has been flying at us at full speed, leaving us with barely enough time to catch our breath. Here's a quick rundown of our activities:

  • Took down all the Christmas decorations and really cleaned the house.

  • Hung out with Eric in the hammock. I also spent plenty of alone time inside while he and all of the kids laid in the hammock.

  • School started back up, and then I had to remember how I spent my time w/just the girls home.

  • Session started for Eric, which means lots of work to not look forward to, as well as many late nights. Thankfully he had MLK off, but that will be it until end of session-sometime in the summer, most likely.

  • Cleaning, organizing, and more cleaning. There's just something about the start of a new year that gets me cleaning out and organizing my stuff.

  • Gardening, weeding, and harvesting the last of our fall garden. We're able to leave the tomatoes and peppers, and we've got several secondary lettuce coming in. We'll plant our spring garden in about a month.

  • Planting our trees, and grapes too. So in about 3 years, if you come out and see us, we'll have fruit from May/June through Jan/Feb (grapes, apples, and citrus), I'd be happy to share. I've got my eye on some raspberries next.

  • Cleaning up after those terrible storms blew through here last week. Ugh, what a mess.

  • Still trying to figure out my calling as a primary teacher (CTR 5's). The time change is killing all of us. Can we go back to 8 am church? (we're at 11:30 now, ugh!)

  • Dealing with shifting computers around, what a pain!

Of course, this is all on top of my normal duties. It's been a bit of a challenge to find a balance between cleaning, kids, meals, church, Eric, and time for just me. I'll get there, just not this week.

"just not this week" makes me laugh - and cry - and hope that if you ever do find a way to balance all of those things that you will share your secret! I have insane envy of your home garden! I feel like we work in the yard all the time (including this week), and never have anything worthwhile to show for it (like a fresh fruit or vegetable).

We've had 1pm for over a year now. Just two more Sundays though! Then we move into our new building and our ward gets 9am. I can't wait!

Your garden sounds like it is going to be fab!

I love you! 11:30 is such a rough time--bad for lunch, bad for naps. CTR 5 can be so much fun, but they're really like Sunbeams, and that means that they're really like Nursery. My trick was to break my lesson time into smaller blocks of time, and then stick with that pattern. Maybe singing a primary song or two, then the lesson, then coloring/art that goes with the lesson and some that doesn't, maybe another primary song or two, and leaving early for closing exercises so we can all get a drink at the water fountain. You'll be great!

I love you. Your garden makes me jealous, and a little tired, you don't get a break from it, either, but at least you get something great from it.
