I could really do without Easter weekends like this one. Not only was it Easter, but also Conference Weekend, Maddie's birthday weekend, our 2nd anniversary of our home (the weekend before). I would much rather have a simpler weekend for Easter, but since it won't happen this way every year, and it was nice to hear Conference on Easter, I can live with the extra zaniness.
In between sessions on Saturday, Eric's parents brought over their baskets (they decided to opt-out of a big family egg hunt this year.) The kids got some toys, a book, a swimsuit, and another outfit, but no candy. The kids, however, didn't notice, or care.
The lack of candy in their first baskets was fine, because we were doing our egg hunt shortly thereafter. Despite the temps in the upper 70's/low 80's, we held the egg hunt inside, we didn't want the chocolate to melt and our backyard is in NO shape to hold an egg hunt, yet. Maybe it's because we're in Arizona, maybe it's because we've both had dads that forgot where they hid all the eggs, but probably because most of our kids hate hard boiled eggs, which is why we prefer to do candy filled plastic eggs here.
We had enough for each of them to find 9 eggs. Some had candy, some had a small toy inside. It worked pretty well, they found all but the last 3 easily enough, at which point we played hot/cold individually until the last three were found.
Of course, it wouldn't be a family event with out someone being unhappy with their loot. Davin, no surprise there, complained that he didn't get enough toys in his eggs (one egg held a mini lego set, another held a new Bakugan). To which Eric replied: "Easter isn't about toys. It's about the candy, Christmas is about toys." Thankfully, it went over all of their heads, and Aidan, Davin, and Eme all corrected their Daddy and his erroneous thoughts.
Sunday we went over to Eric's parents' house for the big family Easter dinner. Which was, as always, wonderful. Made even better by the good weather that let us all eat outside on the patio, while the kids ate in the grass.

Too warm to put your Easter eggs out side?! I'm jealous. We had to do ours inside because it was snowing.
Your husband makes me laugh. I think he would get along pretty well with mine:)
