My birthday-I'm not disclosing my age anymore

So, this year I turned 35.  It may be the last year I willingly admit how old I am.  With three kids in school, and only one at home, I'm definitely one of the older mom's at playgroup.  In a year, when Maddie is in preschool, I'll be in a different class altogether, and I don't know how I feel about that yet.  Enough about feeling old...

I didn't want much for my birthday this year.  With Ashlee's wedding, and family in from out of town, I figured Eric's parents could use a break, so we pushed back the family celebration until after my birthday.  Since my birthday was on a Tuesday this year, we opted to celebrate my birthday early.  All I wanted for my birthday were two things: 1) to have a fun dinner party with some friends and their families; and 2) a surprise.

So, Sunday night we had a lovely birthday dinner with 7 other people and a total of 13 kids (including ours).  The house was noisy, but not too crowded, and it was so much fun!  We made Firehouse Chili in the crock-pot, and I made mexican chocolate cake and pumpkin spice cake earlier in the day, so we'd be all set to eat after church (we've got the 3-6 block this year).  Thank you all for a great day!

On my birthday, Maddie and I went with a friend's preschool class to a pumpkin patch.  And then afterwards I headed over to Sweet Cakes for my 5-Layer brownie (heaven!!)

And I did get my surprise from Eric.  He's pretty good under pressure, so when he told me he had to leave early for work on Monday, I had no idea it was to head on over to Target to pick me up the set of lamps I've been wanting for our bedside tables.  He had them all set up for when I got home from my meetings Tuesday night.  They are perfect, it gives our room that finishing touch it was needing.

And finally, Saturday we got together with Eric's family.  I was so grateful for a quiet evening with good food, my ice cream cake, and one more surprise: a Kindle Touch from Eric's parents (on pre-order since it wouldn't be released until Nov 21st).

All in all, a great way to turn 35.
