Well, our first month of summer vacation has come and gone. Which means summer is now half over, and what do we have to show for it?
- A month-long headache for me (seriously, it began the last week of May and lasted every day, all day long)
- A trip to the Science Center with the kids (on a day that all their cousins just happened to be going too-FUN!)
- After 8 years (to the week) at the JLBC, Eric left for bigger and better things- the CFO at the ADoA. He's excited and so are we.
- LOTS of swimming.
- Weekly summer movies.
- A new medication for my headaches, which did knock my headache down for a week until it caused some rather unpleasant complication/side-effects. Thankfully I was only on it for a week so it only took another week to get it entirely out of my system, and it now seems that my original medication is doing a pretty good job at keeping my headaches at bay (with the help of a dose or two of Tylenol).
- I finally finished Maddie's quilt. One good thing about the medication, with my headache down I was able to focus enough to finish up Maddie's quilt that's been sitting around since before Paris. Now to finish up Eme's before my parents come out in July.
- Two new recipes I tried (yup, I got back to doing that one) were zucchini bites (like mini zucchini quiches)- they were okay. And lemon zucchini bread-sooo good, especially with fresh strawberry jam. Can you tell we've got a good crop of zucchini in the garden again this summer?
- Building catapults for FHE. It started out as a see who could hit the bulls-eye, but soon turned into a pom pom war. We found pom poms in the couch more than a week later.
- Oh, and what summer would be complete without the unexpected remodeling project? We were always planning on re-doing the downstairs bathroom, now it looks like it's being moved to the top of the list. Ah, the joys of home ownership.
