Grandpa J's Parting Gifts

Eric's parents had us all over on Saturday the 1st for a farewell BBQ for Grandpa J, it was time for the snow-bird to return to Utah. Grandpa J is a favorite with my kids. He knows everything. Whenever the kids ask me a question about any animal, bug, plant, I have them ask Grandpa J, who would always have the answer (he was a biology teacher for many years and has also done work with the forestry dept, game and fish, and others). It has made him very dear to them, they love Grandpa J, he's the smartest guy they know.

Before Grandpa J left, he gave all of the great-grand kids magnifying glasses, real ones. So, of course Eric was out the door to burn paper, right behind Grandpa J, who was going out to do the same. All under the watchful eyes of 8 little kids.

Of course on Sunday, Davin grabs his magnifying glass after dinner and tells me he's going outside to burn some paper. Why am I not surprised? This was the kid who tied his sister up with dental floss-he's a mini-Eric through and through. I made Eric go out and stop him, as I was making cookies.

I wouldn't call what he was doing as stopping them, however, more like encouraging. Soon everyone got in on the fun. And Eric was right, in a way, I shouldn't have worried, there was no way those boys were going to find the focal point. This time.

So, sufficed to say, the magnifying glasses are all put up for now.

Eme was my cookie helper, wearing the apron that my Grandma Seguine gave me, I love it.
