Davin's Day!

I can't quite get my head around the fact that my second just turned 8!  Davin had a great birthday, and we managed to pack in as much fun as we could for him.  His breakfast choice this year?  Lucky Charms.  This is the first time that one of my kids has chosen a special cereal, they usually go for orange rolls, pancakes, bacon, oj, etc.  But, hey, I'm not one to complain about this easy request.  As usual, Davin got to open one gift before school: Mr. Gibbs (and contrary to what Davin thought, he comes with a keg of powder, NOT rum).

Davin requested rice krispy treats for his snack at school, easy enough to make for 23 kids.  He also asked for a lunchable for his lunch (again, making my life easier is always good).  He did request a volcano cake, like Aidan had.  And here's where we had our little mishap: while taking the cake out of the oven, it slipped, and flipped up side-down on the oven door.  Miraculously, the thing stayed in one piece, but with some serious fissures in the sides I wouldn't be able to frost it, Eric suggested just doing a red powder sugar glaze for lava.  I was quite pleased, in the end, with the simple results.

After dinner and cake came the gifts!  Davin was the happy recipient of a jr Pillow Pet T-Rex, a new book, a transformer (from his brother and sisters), and a Lego set.  Nana and Papa came by with more gifts: books, clothes, legos, and some more legos!

All in all, a great day.  Now just two more weeks till his baptism!
