Home again, home again, jiggity jig.

After more than a week in the cool mountain air of Utah's high mountain valleys, we grudgingly packed our stuff back up and headed home. We were coming home with noticeably more than we brought up ($80 goes a long way at Tai Pan), but it was all okay, we had plenty of room.

touring the rooms, and up on top of the battlement

We decided to make a fun stop on the way home, because we like to make the trip longer. We stopped at Cove Fort, ate lunch and then enjoyed the tour. I love how life's little coincidences occur. Had we eaten our lunches faster, or slower for that matter, than we would have had a different tour guide. But thankfully, those little threads that connect us all made themselves known. Our tour guide was a Sister Endrizzi, not a common name, Eric mentioned that he had served his mission in Argentina with an Elder Endrizzi. It turns out that this was his mom, they were serving their mission at Cove Fort. They had a fun little chat, catching up on where the boys were now.
the fort was made with volcanic rock, quarried 10 miles to the west of the fort
After our little break we were on the road again. We stopped once more at Glen Canyon, aka "the dam", for the dam view, the dam bathrooms, the dam visitors' center. We were a little sad that we missed the last dam tour by 20 minutes. Sorry, we can't help ourselves, it's been a running joke for years.

I have always wanted to stop at Cove Fort but then always drive by because we want to get to our destination faster! I'll have to stop one of these days.
