Our daily excursion, or the park across the street

The best part of Huntsville, aside from the honey, dino park, cooler temps, fresh raspberries...Okay, one of the best parts about our vacations to Huntsille is the park across the street. It wasn't always this cool, but 5 years ago they put in new playground equipment. They kept the old swingset, tractor tires, geodome, another climby-thing, and an old set of slides nestled in the treehouse, but they added three new play structures to bring the place up to date.

The kids spent a good part of each day over climbing, sliding, spinning, and hanging at the park. From the front porch I can see all but the swings of the playground, which ment I didn't always have to go over with them. I could sit in the shade of the porch, read my book, and keep an eye on my three older children. The two rules were, stay on the bark (where I could see), and if I called them, they had to answer and come. Of course, this only worked when the park was quiet. When there were lots of people there, then I was too. And if Maddie wanted to go, then we all went. Eric was there as much as I was, and the kids loved it.
Maddie discovered the park this year. She watched her brothers and sister enough times to believe that to get to the bigger slides, she had to climb up the little slide instead of using the stairs. It was funny to watch, I never tried to correct it because it slowed her down, and wore her out faster.
Aidan discovered how good he was at climbing this year. Oh, he's always climbed up the slides (they all do) and the short climbing wall, but this year he tried the big wall, and the dome, and the other climby-thing, he spent much of his time up.
